The costs of looking for a new job in your present line of work are deductible miscellaneous expenses (subject to the 2 %-of-AGI limit), even if you don’t get a new job.
Deductible:

· Cost of assembling portfolios of your work.
· Telephone calls.
· 80% of your meals and entertainment expenses related to your job search.
· Out-of-town travel expenses to look for a new job, including transportation, lodging, and 80% of meals and entertainment.
